Things to know about our property
The bed and breakfast is our home, we live on site. All three rooms we rent out are located on the second floor, it is important to know that unfortunately we cannot host ones with physical disabilities that keep them from climbing stairs.
This house was originally built in 1722, there are aspects of the house we cannot change that may be difficult for some to enjoy such as the slanted ceilings and beams and uneven flooring. We love that the house came to us with so many original features and we want to keep it as unique as possible.
Our property is a homestead, we have goats and chickens as well as a dog and cat on the property. Each year we add to our gardens and farming practices, which means we are always in progress, we are not picture perfect, shovels, weeds, fencing, pruning and new plantings will always be present. Every year it is our goal to continue to add more pollinating plants and fruiting shrubs that will help to benefit nature on our small acreage.
Location and Parking, we are located on a main road, which is great that we provide a good middle point for many traveling along the coast and that it is an easy access to several eventful towns and cities. This also means that our property is not as quiet as we would like. We do have storm windows that help absorb a good amount, however we feel obligated to share this information for ones that may be sensitive to noise, especially at night. As for parking, we have a small gravel lot that small / average cars can fit 4. People with larger trucks and suvs would need to give us a heads up so we can move our cars in order to provide more room.
Thank you so much for choosing to stay at Henrietta House Bed and Breakfast. We have been in operation for ten years and over that time we have decided on a few policies that we feel make the bed and breakfast run as efficiently and smoothly for all involved.
Cancellation
Over the years we have had a flexible view on cancellations, because like you we are travelers, we understand that things happen, people bail, we get sick, scheduling conflicts and well, the world can fall apart. However in the last few years our understanding of these scenarios have hurt us more than helped us. As a small business we have to be as smart as we are considerate, so that being said, we are requiring a fifty dollar non refundable deposit on all rooms when booking. If you feel like this is unfair because of extenuating circumstances you can reach out to us via phone 860 420 8544. Thank you for understanding.
Pets
We do accept dogs with a few requirements. We are a homestead, which means that our property has farm animals as well as vegetable and fruit and flowering plants, therefore we require that your pup be on a leash when walking around the property. We cannot have your dog chasing our chickens and some of our plants may be poisonous to pups. ( As animal lovers we want all animals to be happy and healthy) We ask every person with a dog to stay in our suite since it has a private entrance and balcony, which of course makes it easier for you and dog to go in and out. We have a wonderful walking trail next to our home, which is the ultimate space to stretch, breathe deep and flourish in nature. ( Have your pup poop off the path) Pet cleaning fee ($30 Cash)
Arrival and Departure
Departure is 12 and arrival is 3. We are flexible with both arrival and departure times if need be, please text 860 207 4001 if that is the case. We like for people to arrive before sundown because, honestly, it is a bit easier to find the house. If you have booked the suite, you will have a private entrance ( which means you can arrive late). With departure we ask for around noon, so we can have enough time to turn over the room before other guests arrive. We do understand traffic and other life events happen, so if that does occur, a phone call is appreciated.
